Continue ReadingIt wouldn’t be much of a surprise to me if you still haven’t heard of Marlik Brooks at this point, he attended a small high school in Plymouth, NC and flew under the radar pretty much all year. Toward the end of the season I had the privilege of seeing some film of Marlik Brooks via The Hoopfarm Mixtapez YouTube page and I was very impressed. After seeing the film Marlik was extended a Basketball Elite Fab 40 Camp invite and he did not disappoint at all, showing the entire package throughout camp and getting the attention of numerous coaches and scouting services. Recently he made his college decision by signing with Brunswick CC, even though his high school career is complete, four year college coaches will want to keep a close eye on him over the next two years.
What makes him special?
Marik has a very solid frame and plays strong inside, he doesn’t get pushed around and rebounds with the attitude that every ball that doesn’t go thru the net belongs to him. He boxes out well and has a very high motor so he is constantly active throughout game no matter what is going on either end of the floor. On the defensive end of the floor he is a shot blocking specialist that uses his athleticism and length to get blocks at a very rate with minimal fouls, His defense on and off the ball is solid and he seems to have an advanced defensive IQ. Offensively he is very comfortable playing inside and mixing it up with just about anyone, he uses his athleticism to finish plays over opponents with rim rattling dunks. Also he has the ability to step out and knock down shots from the perimeter and mid-range as well as facing up in the post and attacking his opponent. What probably impresses me the most about Marlik is that he already is a very solid player but he has so much more potential left in him, if he truly buckles down and works hard during his Junior College years he can really become a very special player and prospect.
