There was plenty of talent over the 5 day tournament period and listed below are a couple players that stood out on the day we attended and should be on the radar of college coaches.
Team Impact 2017 F Tavion Atkinson- Tavion has been on the radar of college coaches and media for a few years now with schools such as Memphis calling about his services since his sophomore year. As the years have passed he has faced some injuries and other setbacks but showed throughout this event that he still is a very talented youngster. At 6’7 he is a versatile player that can play inside and be productive, grab rebounds and push the ball out in transition as well as knocking down shots from midrange and deep. The key to his success will be constantly playing hard no matter what is going on, and playing to his strengths, he can be absolutely dominate if plays inside first and working from the elbow. During this event there were a few college coaches in attendance and many left intrigued with his abilities and potential of what he can be.
Fayetteville Elite 2017 Wing Jarvez Ellis- Jarvez has been a player that has quietly been productive throughout this past season with Village Christian, at 6’4 he already has good height for a wing. Initially Jarvez was seen as only a scorer, he is a knock down shooter that is especially affective off the catch and isn’t bothered when his shot is contested. However this past season he has developed more as an overall player, making plays from the wing for teammates as well as becoming a better defensive player on and off the ball. He has good length and decent lateral quickness as well as solid athleticism to be able to finish at the room against taller defenders, Jarvez is a young man that college coaches at the D2 level to stop in and check out throughout the season next year.
