As usual there was a good amount of talent in the building throughout the event and quite a few prospects that colleges should keep a close eye on, over the next few days we will discuss a few select players that stood out at.
New Hanover HS 2017 SG Blake Smith – Knock down shooter, is somewhat undersized for a college SG but could be a great fit for D3/NAIA type schools. Type of player that doesn’t need to dribble much to score and is a very successful shooter off the catch which usually translates well into system offense, had one game during ECI where he knocked down almost double digit trey balls.
Cox Mill HS 2019 G/F Wendell Moore- Was hands down the highest rated player at camp and did not disappoint with his play, has very nice quickness and athleticism along with good vision and passing ability. Will need to continue to be stronger with his off hand but does a great job of not forcing plays. ACC and other top conferences have already offered this young man and it doesn’t take long to see why they have.
Goldsboro HS 2018 F/C Tyzhaun Claude-This young man will be one to keep a very close eye on over the next few years, he does a little bit of everything that you want from a big man. Ran the floor well, blocked shots, rebounded the ball well on both ends of the floor and finished plays inside with dunks. At 6’8 with a nice wingspan he understands how to use his height and length to make the game simple, college level potential without a doubt!
Parrot Academy 2018 Guard Kris Wooten- Has a very solid frame to go along with a solid game, has very good ballhandling skills and knows how to get into the gaps of the defense to make plays and score. Also is a much improved shooter from the previous season and defends well when he truly commits himself on that end of the floor. Seems to be taking on the leadership role for a young Parrot Academy squad that will look to make some upsets this season and build on last year’s success.
