He has outstanding athleticism, probably the highest vertical leap at camp, and a strong physique as well. Already Near the 6’6 height range he has the look of a next level prospect,Now he just has to truly focus in on improving skill wise fundamentally, with him being at Kinston we expect him to reach that potential without a doubt.
Northside 2018 Forward Demetrius Jones- Demetrius is about 6’3-6’4 with a very long wingspan and plays the stretch forward spot for this Northside team, he used his length well to get deflections and blocks on the defensive end. On the offensive end he was patient and didn’t force plays, has a nice jump shot that he knocked down regularly from midrange and the short corner area. He is a very gifted football player as well so it will be interesting to see which sport he truly buckles down and rolls with over the next two years.
Forest Hills 2018 Guard Shamon Ratliff- With Forest Hills missing one of their top players to an AAU tournament, Shamon stepped up for his squad and provided some much needed offense. What impressed me most was although he is a gifted player offensively he stayed within the flow of the offense and didn’t try to go one on one, he picked his spots and knocked down the midrange shot at a high percentage. He also is a very quick guard with a solid frame that can get up and down the floor in a hurry to get easy transitions buckets for his squad.
Southwest Onslow 2017 Wing Carnell Watkins- Carnell is a player that I didn’t get to see as much as I would have liked but in the small amount of time I saw him he was very impressive. He has a natural ability to the score the ball and knows how to get to his spots with minimal dribbling. Southwest Onslow struggled last season scoring the ball but we expect Carnell to come in and provide a much needed scoring spark for this team.
