Team: Iowa Dynasty 16u
Record: 18-6
Program director: Nate Meints
Best tournament finish(es): 2nd at Midwest Cup, 3rd at Midwest Basketball Showcase
Team MVP: Seybian Sims/Evan Flitz
Biggest surprise (player or team attribute/accomplishment): Seybian Sims, Iowa City West: Seybian has become mismatch nightmare for opposing teams. His length and athleticism allow him to make an huge impact on both ends of the floor. Seybian has been attacking the basket much more aggressively and can step out and hit the open three with consistency. He is only scratching the surface of his potential.
Best defender: Evan Flitz, Iowa City West: Has taken a much more physical approach to defense this season which has helped to evolve the way views himself as a defender.
Best team moment: Winning a double OT game at the Midwest Basketball Showcase
Evaluation of how your team preformed in the spring: We have made great strides as a team both offensively and defensively. As good as we’ve played at times this season, we feel like our record should be even better than what it is as we’ve let a few games get away.
July schedule: July 8-10 – Chicago Summer Slam
July 15-17 – Battle at the Arch
July 21-24 – Sunflower Showcase
July goals (for team and/or individual players): Keep on progressing both individually and as a team. Really want to see a few of our guys take a big step forward during the live period. I am also excited to see how Seybian Sims, Evan Flitz, and Hakeem Odunsi handle playing up with our 17u team for a few games during our last three tourneys.
