At 6’5”, Durham told Prep Hoops Ohio that he can defend every position. He’s not lying.
“Put me at like any position, I can really play wherever … I can handle the rock, I can handle pressure, I can run the floor, rebound,” Durham said.
While Durham plays a hybrid role during the high school season, he’s asked to be more of pure wing for All Ohio Black. The defensive flexibility never stops, but he’s put in more natural situations in the summer.
Coach Deron Turner of All Ohio Black had this to say about Durham, “Myself and assistant coach Roberto Allen have seen a growth in his game over this spring. He can impact games in different ways. His biggest fight is recognizing his talent … He’s just getting started.”
This growth has brought interest from Findlay University.
Despite his apparent lack of interest thus far, Durham’s process won’t look like this forever. Some players don’t find the right program fit until late, sometimes even after graduation. He may be one of those players based on location and recent skill maturation.
“There isn’t many 6’6” athletes with budding skill walking around Ohio unnoticed … If he played in Columbus, Cincinnati, or Cleveland, he would be amongst best names in Ohio’s 2017 class at his position,” Coach Turner said.
This final session in July is a crucial month. He’s looking forward to the opportunities.
“I like playing tired in AAU. And you’re playing against more competition,” Durham said.
In June, he has been playing with Tiffin Columbian in a summer league at the YMCA and they also went to the Findlay Team Camp.
