The 6-foot-6 skilled four man scored 18.4 points per game this year and that gives him 1,113 points for his varsity career and he still has two years left to play!
Because of the schedule that Minnehaha Academy keeps many people see Bickham and his teammates in the winter but locals don’t often see him in the spring and summer because Bickham competes with Wisconsin United out of Wisconsin.
But playing with the program Bickham competes against some of the best in the Midwest and it’s been a quality experience for him.
“I think the spring went well with Wisconsin United,” Bickham told NHR. “It got me ready for June so I can know what things I need to work on to improve my game. I need to work on getting faster and my athleticism (as well).”
With a fantastic back to the basket game, a strong frame, and quality handles and touch for a guy his size Bickham is a division one prospect.
“I’m hearing from Drake, Northern Iowa, Oregon State, Stanford, and UW-Green Bay,” said Bickham.
JaVonni isn’t just getting ready for July open play as well as college basketball in the future, he also has dreams to chase as a high school basketball player next winter.
“I think next season will be a great year for us,” Bickham said with excitement. “We’re a little young but I feel we have a great chance to win state this year. That’s our goal from day 1. So we have to work hard to get there.”
There is no doubt that with Bickham, Jalen Suggs, Kaden Johnson, Terry Lockett, Jose Williamson, and others returning there is no doubt that Minnehaha Academy will be one of the few Class AA favorites for the 2016-17 season.
