Continue Reading2017 SG Glenn Ford heads into this summer looking for his first college offer following a junior season in which he was able to develop as more of a leader with Friendly High School (MD).
Despite no offers to this point, the 6-5 shooting guard has drawn plenty of eyes from across Division I including notables VMI, Hofstra, Rice, Old Dominion, and Richmond.
Ford has developed a wide skill set to this point that formed into a leadership role last season.
“Last season was a good season. I had to take more of a leadership role, and our team was really good, but we fell short in the playoffs in the first round. Individually, I think I got a lot better. I became vocal and a better leader,” said the Friendly (MD) player.
Now playing this summer with Bump N Run, Ford has improved in other areas of his game while adjusting to a different team role.
“I’ve gotten a lot better with my basketball IQ and my understanding of the game. But with this team, we have other good guys who are the lead on their high school teams but we came together so it’s not like I have to take a back seat to anyone, but we all try to be leaders. We all do what we do during our high school seasons but now on the circuit,” said Ford.
A stronger understanding of the game alongside his new leadership skills both accompany what Ford says is his best skill set.
“When I first started playing basketball, my strength was pretty much just shooting, but now, I’m an all-around scorer. I can shoot and get to the basket. Honestly, getting to the basket is easier for me,” said the shooting guard.
Ford is confident that he can play at the D1 level, which he is being recruited for.
“I personally think I can play at a high D1 level, but right now I just need to polish up some small things. Right now, I’m probably more mid-D1.”
The polishing must come within a few skills for the shooting guard.
“I think I need to get stronger with my ball-handling and my decision-making. I think I’ve gotten a lot better since my freshman year of high school. Now I’m just polishing up my handle,” added Ford.
With multiple D1 programs eyeing up the shooting guard, he now waits to see if an offer comes his way as he continues with Bump N Run this summer.
