Hot Commodity
With ACC offers from Wake Forest and Clemson already in hand, White has skyrocketed up high major college radars. White states, “confidence, hard work and support from everyone around me.” is what has played a role in why he is such a hot commodity.
Florida, Missouri, North Carolina State, Iowa State, Ohio State, Virginia and Providence have been in contact recently with the 6’4″ guard. North Carolina has also been involved with White. “Coach McGrath (UNC Assistant) calls and checks in on me to see how my week has been. Things like that.”
He will take a unofficial visit to Chapel Hill on June 20.
Scouting Report
Attacking down hill, getting out and running in the open floor, finishing end-to-end and a soft touch around the rim has propelled him from being a talk in North Carolina as a player to see, to now a player nationally to see. A taller point guard at 6’4″ he can see over other guards which allows him to make easier passes. White has the ability to knock down mid-range jump shots all the way to the three-point line. White also possesses a high basketball IQ that other players his age do not have.
The second live period for college coaches to get a look at prospects is in July and Coby has an agenda. “Just to win all games in July and getting better as a team and winning Peach Jam.” (Augusta, Ga.)
Name to Remember
Coby White is going to be a household name in recruiting communities over the next two years. Look for him to pick up interest and offers from Power 5 conferences in the near future.
