“The spring has been going great. I love our team, we get along really well and we have been playing really well lately,” Cade said. “We made the semifinals of the NHR State Tournament, which was a good weekend.”
The 6-foot-1 shooter from the south suburbs is fast appearing on college coaches’ radars. It’s mostly D3 programs with some D2 and NAIAs creeping into the mix.
“The schools I’ve been hearing from are U of Chicago, Gustavus, Bethel, Concordia-Moorhead, Briar Cliff, Dordt, St. Olaf, Northwestern (St Paul), and St. Scholastica,” Carlson said. “I’m visiting Bethel and Gustavus soon along with a few others, and I’m still deciding about a camp invite to Bemidji State.
“Getting a good education is the most important thing for me. I also want a school with a good basketball program as well as players and coaches I can get along with.”
As far as preparing for hoops after high school, Cade knows his work isn’t done.
“I want to keep improving on my defense, athleticism, and continue to get stronger,” he said. “Also, I want to keep getting better at scoring at all three levels.”
Once winter season fires up, Cade will be a part of a very entertaining South team that includes D1 prospects Shae Mitchell and Jack Sorenson.
