Former South Hagerstown 6-foot-4 combo guard Amir Harris will be transferring to St. Maria Goretti for his upperclassmen seasons, and sites exposure for his reasoning.
Harris had a very successful season with the Rebels as a sophomore (13.8 points, 3.1 steals), but wasn’t hearing from college coaches. He thinks making the move to Gorertti will spike his recruitment.
“I didn’t feel like I was getting a lot of college exposure at public school, so by going to private school I’ve already gotten more exposure. I’ve gotten a call from University of Delaware and Mount St. Mary’s, so it’s been a very good start,” said Harris.
“Those are the only two schools I’ve heard from so far. But hopefully I’ll be able to get some more college looks soon.”
The up-and-coming 2018 detailed his conversation with Mount Saint Mary’s.
“Mount Saint Mary’s talked to me about what kind of person I am, and what I like to do, and what my personality is and about my family,” said Harris, who also spoke of his Delaware conversation.
“And then Delaware asked me about some of my tournaments, and who I live with, and what kind of people I hang around, and my grades.”
Another school that has been involved is Liberty, it has sent mail. Harris — who will play his summer ball with Team Maryland Elite — says he’s very much looking forward to the rest of his recruiting process.
“I’m really looking forward to the recruiting process. I’ve never really been a part of it. So I’m just trying to learn as much as I can from my family members who have already been recruited and know what it’s like,” he said. “It’s really exciting, and I can’t wait to really get going with it.”
