Fury’s Weston Baker-Magrath, Marshall — Yes, he has great warmup dunks. They’re really good. But I liked in his game against WOTN-Ewing where he was showing some back-to-the-hoop, blue-collar post moves. Yes! He finished with 14.
WOTN Ewing’s Elliot Lyden, Centennial — Athletic guard for Centennial who we first noticed at last year’s NHR Combine. Has a very quick first step and is strong. Many tools are there, just needs some refinement. D3s should look at him.
WOTN Ewing’s Matt Baisch, Burnsville — Baisch isn’t impressive in stature, but he almost single-handedly gave Fury Zurn a run for their money. He hit from all over, then when Fury pulled ahead a little bit, he started hitting again. A last-second shot didn’t fall to tie, and Baisch came away with a very respectable 22 points.
Comets Lewis’ Ryan Lindberg, Wayzata — Ryan has an absolutely beautiful jump shot. It’s compact, sharp, and accurate. NSICs have to look at him as one of the better spot-up shooters available in 2017. He showed some athleticism going up and finishing a lob lay-in feed by Irsfeld in transition.
Comets Lewis’ Gavin Baumgartner, Wayzata — The other Wayzata wing with a buzzcut for Comets, Gavin had 15 points at half and got the Comets going quickly. I loved a baseline block out of bounds near halftime that had the bench excited. Great NSIC prospect.
Comets Lewis’ Simon Wright, Hopkins — I love where Simon’s game has gone the last couple years. He’s become very physical and charges down the court like a freight train with the ball, and he finishes with confidence.
SW Stars’ Noah Slagter, Willmar — The PG played his butt off in a double-digit loss to the Comets. Things got away from them quickly, but Slagter fought and fought and competed hard. That’s a good thing to see when you’re losing big.
Suns 16U’s Terrell Adams, Washburn — I always thought Terrell was mainly a scorer, but he did an exceptional job rebounding against Twin Ports 16U. He had several baskets that barely rolled out and would drop 9/10 times, and I think if it wasn’t for bad luck he would have had a double-double today. 8 pts, 13 rebounds.
Twin Ports 16U’s Brody Eldien, Proctor — I think D3s should get out and watch this kid, as he could be a real hidden gem down the road. He’s 6-foot-5, lanky and can shoot it. Had 16 points at half.
Suns 16U’s Jackson McCullum, Eagan — McCullum led the charge for the Suns’ late 19-1 run, doing a little bit of everything and tallying a crazy 20 pt, 17 rebound stat line. And he’s only 5-11!
