The littler of the Hill brothers, this sophomore-to-be is a very skilled player, particularly from beyond the arc, and his ball-handling is a plus as well. He’s still very small, bit if his father and brother’s size is any indicator, he should sprout soon. And with his skill-set already in tact, he could become a special player.
2017 Trevor Grove, Dallas Center-Grimes (6’4 SG)
A very lanky, but tall wing, who was lighting it up from deep in his team’s loss to South Hamilton. He’s tall enough to get shots mostly when he wants, and if today was any indicator, they’ll go in more often than not.
2017 Sam Allen, Grinnell (6’3 SG)
He was definitely one of the two best players I saw today (Ben Juhl), scoring 26 points and then 29 points in Grinnell’s two losses. It became clear by the second game, after he made several tough, but beautiful shots, that he was certainly one of the best — if not the best –shooters in the state. His handles are much better than they once were, he was putting guys on skates at times, and his passing skills are definitely adequate. He looked like a guy that could play Division I basketball.
2018 Landon Ingle, Roosevelt (6’4 G/F)
It looks as though this incoming junior could find himself in a Roosevelt starting lineup that will be surprisingly good next season. Ingle has some very nice size, and is a defensive-minded wing with shut-down potential. Offensively, he can hit a short to mid-range J, and will get most of his buckets from inside of 10-feet.
2018 Jacob Johnson, Roosevelt (6’6 PF)
Another great get for Roosevelt, this good-sized and talented post comes the to Roughriders from Dowling. And he will be a very effective post, whether starting or coming off the bench, he provides the Riders with some nice size. He can score well around the rim, and was rebounding well today.
2018 Jacory Higgins, Grinnell (5’10 F)
Maybe the smallest post in the state, what makes Higgins impactful are his immensely long arms. That coupled with some nice strength and quickness, and the sub 6-foot forward was one of the best guys around the rim today. Higgins pulled down more offensive rebounds than anyone else on his team, and all of his points came at the rim. He may not even go out for basketball, but the Tigers would benefit if he does.
2018 Cade Crall, Albia (6’1 G)
Albia may not win a ton of games next season, but it won’t be for lack of effort. Crall will be the team’s leader; he is a quick and savvy guard who finds lanes well, and could be one to score in bunches when he gets into rhythm.
