Continue ReadingIt was a few years back when we crossed paths with Cameron Campbell. He had talent, but it is what we call ‘‘raw’’ talent. He was playing Junior Varsity basketball and had the tools to be a very good player, but just needed to really put some more time in on his craft. During the summer following his sophomore year, you could constantly see Cam on numerous workout videos with his trainer working extremely hard doing all types of drills. Whether he was running hills in the middle of a hot day or flipping tires, he was giving it everything he had and you could see the determination he had in his mind to become a special player.
Cam would have a solid junior year, improving to the point that multiple scouting services and colleges began to track him closely as well as earning an East NC Fab 40 Camp invite. Although he began to get more notice he still continued to work on his game just as much as he did the summer prior to become the best player he could be. Throughout his senior season he put together some impressive performance as well as some highlight dunks that made us all watch them numerous. To top it off he played a huge role in helping Trinity Christian capture their 2nd state NCISAA 1A championship in the last 3 years.
Throughout the season and following the season, he went on some college visits and workouts to see which school would be the best fit for him. After visits to Queen, WSSU, Johnson C Smith, Virginia Union, Lincoln and many others he decided to sign with Lincoln University. We asked Cam what made him decide on Lincoln University ”I felt that it was the best fit for me Academically and Athletically and I felt that it was the best place for me to pursue my basketball career and take my game to the next level the Campus Life was Nice, State Of The Art Facilities, Players Treated me as if I was one of their life long brothers, and most importantly the Coaching Staff, I feel like they will care for me not only on the court but off the court and through out the rest of my life.” We definitely expect Cam’s game to translate well to the next level as he is a very coachable player and has an outstanding work ethic, he is proof that hard work pays off.”
