Continue ReadingIf you look at highlights of 2017 Clinton Christian (MD) PG Vince Rose Jr., the quick guard bursts out with strong fundamental abilities. The 6-1 point guard possesses excellent vision of the court along with the ability to push the tempo of the game offensively.
However, Rose has not received any offers nor interest yet. It’s surprising considering the building blocks he has attained combined with his basketball mindset.
One obstacle which formed his strong mindset in his season with Clinton Christian was a broken wrist to start out the season. However, the injury did not stop the versatile point guard from finishing out the year strong.
“[The season] started out slow because I broke my wrist at the beginning of the season. But I finished the season out pretty good. I averaged about 14 points. We lost in the playoffs,” said Rose. After the injury, he “just wanted to make a statement; to prove to everyone that [he] could play on this level.”
Rose was able to make a successful season out of it with his three-point shooting ability, agility at the rim, and transitional vision across the court. He continues to shine with these abilities as the point guard plays with 6th Man Warriors 17U this summer.
“I come off the bench, so I bring energy when I come off the bench. I keep the game going; I don’t let it trail. I keep the team going,” said Rose.
On any highlights, you can see the class of 2017 player going the extra mile on the court with his athletic ability and hustle plays. Two characteristics Rose immediately defines his game with.
“I make extra plays, like hustle plays. Like if there is a steal, if they need me to rebound, I do the extra [things],” said the point guard. “I’m more athletic than most of the players I play against, and I can shoot the ball.”
While his play on the floor already carries many positives, Rose sees room for improvement in some areas.
“I want to work on my floater and controlling the game more,” Rose added.
A strong floater would do wonders for his ability to drive the lane considering he is already physical going up for rebounds and layups.
Despite little interest coming his way so far, Rose has his eyes set at playing Division I basketball at the next level.
“I feel like I’m a Division 1 player,” said Rose. “I play hard. I just want to win.”
His hustle makes the point guard a player to watch for on the rise in the coming months.
