The 2018 prospect sustained a leg injury a month ago, but will be back to the hardwood before the summer grassroots season starts.
And though he currently is not on an AAU roster, he’ll work to improve his skill set on a team that may pick him up, or on his own if he has to.
“I feel like I’m a good shooter from the perimeter and I’m good at driving — those are my two strengths. I would say most of my points come from beyond the arc,” said Yomba.
“I think I need to work on my ball-handling. And when I get back from my injury I’m going to really work hard on that.”
He was an energy guy for his JV team last season as a sophomore — sometimes starting, and sometimes coming off the bench.
“During the year I was sixth-man, and I started some games. I was the kind of player who brought energy on defense and I would just get everyone going and would bring energy to the team,” said Yomba — who is hoping to find a grassroots team to play with before the July live periods begin.
“I couldn’t find any that suited me. I tried out for a team, but it didn’t work out,” said Yomba. “But I think I could bring some defensive energy, and a great attitude. I would just do what the coach wants me to do.”
His immediate goal for himself is to get healthy and improve, with a long-term goal of playing college ball.
“I really want to continue playing basketball in college,” said Yomba. “I feel like I need to become more of a leader on my team, and I need to just become a better overall player to get an offer or interest.”
