A 6-foot-4 2017, Eilers has been a versatile sharpshooter with Dynasty and has seen the floor exceptionally well for a player his size. He’s starting to see some college interest trickle in because of it.
“I’ve gotten some letters from D3 and NAIA schools like Luther and Briar Cliff, and then I’ve also been in contact with the Morningside coach in Sioux City,” said Eilers.
“It’s definitely something I’m thinking about, but I’m still not sure exactly what I want to do after high school. I want to play basketball, but it’s still all up in the air right now, but I’m excited to see where basketball takes me.”
Definitely one of 2017’s standout players this spring, Eilers shared with PHI what it is he feels he’s been excelling at so far this offseason.
“I feel like I’ve gotten a lot better as a shooter, and it’s shown this spring,” said Eilers. “I’ve been in the gym a lot shooting. And I’ve been working on putting the ball on the floor more, my mid-range, and attacking. I’ve been really trying to get teammates open with screens and find cutters, and really just my offense as a whole.”
As a junior with the Hawks last winter Eilers was a role player who averaged 5.6 points and 2.5 rebounds per game.
“I started the five pretty much every game and had to play bigger players, sometimes I was at a disadvantage, but then on offense I could stretch the floor,” said Eilers, who will have a more prominent role next winter.
“Next season I think we’re going to have a more open offense, and I’ll be able to spread the floor and use my guard skills more.”
In the meantime, he’s looking forward to his crucial 17U summer with a very talented Dynasty 17U squad.
“I’m really just a spot-up shooter and I just try and hit a couple 3s a game, and I’m usually able to get a couple twos and spread the floor and pass, cut, set screens,” said Eilers, who is a key player for one of the surprise teams of the offseason.
“We come into each tournament knowing that we can leave a mark on that tournament, and get some attention”
