Brooks Murrell is an athletic forward who has transitioned nicely to the wing over the past few years and offers the length and scoring ability schools will be interested in. The 6’5 small forward stretches the floor and did a great job of filling the stat sheet on his senior laden high school team. A recent visit to Loyola shows the interest has begun to pick up.
This summer will provide an opportunity for him to polish the parts of his game that coaches have been asking about. Here is what he said he has been working on, “While I continue to work on shooting and other areas of my game, I have really put an emphasis on improving my overall strength and quickness. I am working out every day to improve in these areas.” Murrell was among the team leaders in points, rebounds, steals, and led the team in blocks.
He’ll be able to showcase numerous different skills and the sneaky athleticism with Louisiana Select – Team Millsap with the guards on that roster. He told us that, “The most effective part of my game is my ability to score in a variety of ways. I can shoot the three or put the ball on the floor to get to the rim.” Heading into his senior year he is looking to step into more of a leadership role. On the defensive end, his size and length allow him to guard numerous positions.
Murrell is a 6’5 forward who currently has a 3.7 GPA and is awaiting his ACT score from the test he took in April. He has high interest from both Loyola and Millsaps and has heard from numerous in state schools including Louisiana Tech and Tulane. Whether he lands, the Archbishop Hannan and Team Millsap forward will bring a high level of play with him.
