The 6-foot-6 wing is a threat inside and outside, and uses great size and length to make an impact on both ends of the floor.
“I’ve seen a couple letters from like Grand View and Central and just small schools like that around here; I get emails from them. And there’s some more small schools like that,” said Dentlinger, who is starting to take serious interest in his recruitment.
“It’s definitely a priority. I’m hoping I get looked at more often, maybe see what I can do the rest of the summer.”
A versatile wing, who could even be considered a stretch-four, Dentlinger defined his playing style to PHI.
“I’m the only big-man at New London, so I kind of float from inside to outside. I like playing the wing more though, I like to take jump-shots, I like shooting 3s, I don’t play post very much with Martin Brothers,” he said.
“I’m hoping to drive better, become stronger with the ball, maybe play some better defense and become quicker over the summer.”
He averaged 15.5 points, 9.1 rebounds and 4.0 blocks per game during his junior season with the Tigers. He says leadership was his main role though.
“I was one of the leaders, we only had one senior so I had to step up a little bit,” said Dentlinger. “Him and I were the only returning starters, so we had to whip everyone into shape.”
His role between high school ball and grassroots ball is drastically different, he’s just hoping to find his place with this Martin Brothers all-star squad.
“There’s a lot of talented guys on this team and I don’t see myself as much of a shot-taker, but more of a defender and passer,” said Dentlinger. “I get the team set, and just go where I’m supposed to.”
