An athletic and long inside/outside threat, Taylor had to sit out the first half of last season after a transfer and plays with a lesser-known grassroots program, Quad City Soul.
But make no mistake, the kid can play, and should be looked at by area NAIA, Division III and Division II programs.
“I haven’t heard from any coaches just yet, I think it’s because I had to sit out for half of the season,” said Taylor.
“Some college coaches don’t really look at the small AAU teams like us, so that’s why I really come out and give it my all each game.”
A big wing with plus-athleticism, a nice handle and feel for the the game,Taylor was very good last summer when we saw him, but still very raw.
He’s worked hard to refine his game over the past year.
“Last summer I was kind of a role player I wasn’t really as focused as I really wanted to be,” said Taylor. “And then over the summer last year I worked on my ball-handling, and went to some camps and I got my focus up, and that’s been the key to most of my success.”
For now, Taylor’s focus is to continue and improve his skill-set, and to be a leader on his grassroots team.
“When I go to North I’m a big-man, and I play in and out. But here with my AAU team I’m trying to work on my jump-shot and my handles and passing the ball,” said Taylor.
“And our team (Quad City Soul 17U) is coming along. What I’m trying to do is — since a lot of them have never played AAU — is just build them up, and build chemistry since we’re all new.”
