Eilers was on fire all day fro deep, but that wasn’t all he was doing. The rangy wing was swiping steals, blocking shots, and showcased some great vision and passing. He’s had an outstanding spring.
2018 Johnathan Herrick, 6’6 F, Iowa Wolves 16U (Boone)
It was clear that Herrick was a cut-above-the-rest here today, not only physically, but with his skill-set too. What’s most striking is his size, but his versatility is what makes him most dangerous. He will star at Boone the next two seasons.
2019 Beau Cornwell, 6′ G, Iowa Dynasty 15U (West Branch)
I was eager to see the high scoring guard play after his historically good 47 point performance last December. And he did not disappoint, dropping 14 points in the first 8 minutes of action in his team’s loss to Wisconsin Soldiers.
2018 Hakeem Odunsi, 6’5 F, Iowa Dynasty 16U (Iowa City West)
Long and athletic wing, Odunsi put down a very nice baseline pseudo-slam when I saw him. His length aids him defensively and he was a spark for his team with his three dunks against All Iowa Attack.
2018 Evan Flitz, 5’11 PG, Iowa Dynasty 16U (Iowa City West)
Surprisingly, this is the first time I’ve seen Flitz play. He was as good as everything I’ve heard, and if it wasn’t for two guys named Lane and McCaffery he would probably be a starting point guard next season at West. He’s a smart player with nice range and blow-by ability.
2018 Joey Dow, 5’9 PG, All Iowa Attack 16U (Hoover)
Another small Hoover guard who can really play. Dow is a good passer, a good shooter and a good ball-handler. He’s not overly flashy and is not yet great, but showed some major potential in his team’s loss to Iowa Dynasty.
2019 Trent Williamson, 6’2 G, Cornsharks Select 15U (Earlham)
I think this kid will become a star at Earlham over the next three seasons. It was evident from the first play of the game against Tryon Gym that he was ready to play. He blew by his opponent and put in an athletic lay-in, which was just the start of his impressive game. He’s smart, doesn’t force, skilled and athletic — the full package.
2019 Dakota Rold, 6’6 C, Tryon Gym (Exira-EHK)
The more I see, the more I like of this tall and rangy center. There is much to be desired offensively, but if he gets the ball around the rim he is capable of getting buckets. What he’s best at though is offensive rebounding and blocking shots — both will be plentiful over the next three seasons.
