2019 Owen Coburn, 6’10, F/C, Martin Brothers (Spirit Lake): The big man has moved from HMS, where he scored 11 points per game, led the team in rebounds and shot 61.0 percent from the floor as a freshman, to Spirit Lake. He’ll be able to help right away, with a fundamental post game that makes him hard to stop with his size. He’s still got areas where he can make significant strides, but he has the tools to be very good.
2019 Dillon Carlson, 5’10, G, Martin Brothers (MOC-Floyd Valley): Carlson, who got some varsity run as a freshman for the Class 3A power, is a heady defender who knows when and where to take gambles. He snuck a steal from an inbounds pass after a Martin Brothers basket for an easy layup at one point. He’s got a smooth shooting stroke, but, as a guard especially, needs to remember the value of possessions at times.
2019 Cole Henry, 6’6, G/F, Martin Brothers (Oskaloosa): Henry really runs the floor well for his position and size (he’s got great length), and is also a capable shot blocker. He’s got some range on his jumper and the ability to play inside.
2019 Tyreke Locure, 5’9, PG, Kingdom Hoops (Des Moines North): Yes, Locure’s size is a concern, but he is quite the talent. There’s little he can’t do, and do well, on the floor. Offensively, He’s a knockdown shooter from range, has extreme quickness (plus an excellent hesitation crossover) to get to the rim and a plus-passer. He’s aggressive and smart on defense, knowing when to take gambles. He must have recorded close to a half-dozen steals in the backcourt with his quick hands. One of the state’s brightest young prospects.
2019 Noah Hart, 6’1, G, Kingdom Hoops (Waukee): Hart is a gritty defender that makes things difficult on the man he’s matched up against with some subtle physicality. In transition, he runs the wings well, making himself an offensive threat.
