“Schools that are talking to me are UC-Santa Barbara, UC-Irvine, Valparaiso, Northeastern, Loyola-Maryland, Marist and North Dakota State,” Walt told NHR. “It was a really tough decision to leave Pulley, but after missing last year due to injury, I just wanted to play on a team where I’d have the most opportunities.”
McGrory re-proved himself this winter with the Edina varsity team, where he paired with Will Moreton to create a strong go-to duo. Walt added more muscle and came back assertive and with confidence, but there’s more work to be done as he progresses towards becoming a well-rounded prospect.
“My goal is to play D1, but ultimately I want the school that fits best academically and for basketball,” Walt said. “I’m working towards becoming a more vocal leader on and off the court. I’m really working on developing my shot to be more consistent as well as my ball-handling and footwork so I’ll be able to create my own shot at any time.”
After considering several different club programs, Walt’s decision to play with D1 MN Prospects is a solid one. He came into a group of athletic wings and forwards that will benefit from his distribution ability as well as his added scoring threat. The attributes that NHR noticed right away about Walt were his added strength and his explosiveness — he hasn’t lost any spark after missing time with injury.
