Some Division II programs may want to take notice too.
After transferring in from Underwood last season, the rangy 2017 had to sit out 90 days, and then was a bit lost-in-the-shuffle on a senior-laden state qualifying squad.
Still, he’s seen interest come his way from some area programs,
“My coach got a text from Dordt, and I’ve gotten a letter from University of Sioux Falls. And Also Simpson, Morningside, Briar Cliff have been showing some interest,” said Torneten.
“I’m just going to keep playing basketball, and if the letters come, they come. I’m just going to try and improve and we’ll see what happens I guess.”
Great height and supreme length make the junior guard a menace on both sides of the ball — he was routinely getting off clean looks, blocking shots and disrupting passes last weekend at Midwest Live! In Des Moines.
“I’m lengthy so I feel I can get to the rim pretty easy, also since I’m lengthy I can shoot over kids. I feel like I can shoot pretty well, and that’s what I consider my strength to be is shooting,” said Torneten.
“I’d say I’m more of a guard right now, but I can mix it up. I’m developing kind of a post skill-set also.”
At 6-foot-5, he is able to play the one through the four for the Lynx, and though his perimeter skill-set is mostly developed, he’s continuing to work on both inside and outside skill-sets.
“I’m just working on individual moves, one-on-one moves,” said Torneten. “I’ve been working with my coach a lot and doing workouts and mixing it up to go inside. And I’ve been working on my shot, trying to make it so I can get it off quicker.”
