Kai Morgan is one of the top shooters in Louisiana in the class of 2017 and that’s been known for quite some time. He’s got a thick frame and the ability to get in the lane and finish among the trees. At 6’3, he’s as smooth as you’d imagine any left handed scorer would be.
This summer he plans on continuing to improve both his ball handling and his frame to prepare for the upcoming season. As he continues to tone his body and improve his handles, it’ll be tough for most high school defenders to slow him from scoring. On the defensive end, once he locks in and understands what he is capable of, he’ll be able to defend most perimeter players.
Whether it’s taking the final shot or fighting for a lose ball, there is no quit in the way Morgan plays basketball. When asked about the next level he said, “I think what’s most important for the next level is heart and have a good work ethic.” Those two coupled with his talent will get him where he needs to be. He’s heard from multiple schools like UTEP, Northwestern St, and some SEC schools and is still awaiting the offers.
Kai was named a LSWA Class 5A All-State honorable mention after leading John Curtis to the playoffs before running into 5A runner-ups Scotlandville. He was effective defensively in the live period and showed off his basketball IQ despite struggling from the field. The John Curtis shooting guard who plays his summer ball with New Orleans Elite has a 3.5 GPA with an 18 on the ACT.
