The 5-foot-8 sophomore poured in 15 points per game during his freshman season, and that number ballooned to 20.5 points per game last season.
He says he even surprised himself a bit with the early success.
“I would say I surprised myself a little bit. My freshman year I knew I’ be able to make an impact somehow, but I didn’t know I’d be able to score quite that much,” said Weber. “ And last year I kind of expected to score a bunch just because I was able to my freshman year.”
Because of his underclassmen successes, Weber has been able to generate some early interest from one area NAIA and a Division III program.
“I’ve gotten quite a bit from Briar Cliff in Sioux City, and I’ve been invited to Central’s camp.” said Weber, “But other than that not too much right now.”
He added: “I would really like to play basketball in college so I want to put myself out there and show that I can play and just see if I can pick up some early interest.”
A quick and savvy guard, Weber is small, but able to create looks for himself spot, and sets his teammates up for success with plus-vision.
“I’m a pretty small kid so I try and use my quickness to my advantage,” said Weber. “And I would say I have a pretty strong left hand and I’ve been trying to work on my right hand a little more. I have a pretty solid outside shot and I’ve trying to work on my mid-range.”
This summer Weber will be playing with Tryon Gym White 16U — it’s his first year playing with the program.
“I like their style, and I like how they play fast and and they kind of just let us play,” said Weber. “And I like a lot of the guys in the program.”
