Hutchison is now one of eight players on the D1 Minnesota team that has won 12 of 13 games so far and Hutchison is excited about the coming months both in Grassroots play and working on his own.
“The first few weeks of the (Grassroots season have been great and very successful,” said Hutchison. “On D1 MN 17u we have added some very talented players, combined with the talented core group from last year, which makes it a blast to play with such high level teammates.
“We all have come together as a team faster than some may expect, which helped us go 7-1 in the Adidas Gauntlet to this point. With such a talented group, we all have learned to sacrifice parts of our game, for the good of the team.
“Personally, I am trying to continue to develop and strengthen all parts of my game. I have had early successes on the Adidas circuit, but also had learning opportunities that I will grow from and perfect as the season goes on. The future looks bright and it is going to be a great season.”
Jack’s focus for the next three months of Grassroots play is to become a more consistent shooter in several ways.
“This past year and into the start of the (Grassroots) season I have really improved my mid range pull up jumper and my on the ball defense. Most importantly have worked hard to develop my toughness, both mental and physical through a lot of time in the gym and working on my game.
“For the coming tournaments and remainder of the (Grassroots) season I am going to work on my shot consistency, which is needed at high level AAU where the pace is quicker than high school. In addition, continue to have an attack mentality when on offense and defense.”
Hutchison has big goals for this coming summer that involve a big run league play and to improve his personal game.
“My goals for the rest of the summer are for my team to win the Adidas Guantlet, to continue to improve and strengthen my all around game and lastly to get the opportunity to play at a D1 university/college that fits me well,” Jack said.
Hutchison listed the programs that he is hearing from to this point. Last summer Sam Houston State and Montana State offered Hutchison.
“I have been hearing most from Wofford, Holy Cross, Yale, Princeton, West Point, Montana State, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and University of Texas Rio Grande this month. This is an exciting time and I look forward to seeing how it all plays out for me.”
