Scotlandville’s Garrick Green is one of the state’s best available players in the Class of 2016 and the senior is still doing all he can to find a spot on the next level. That includes another run this spring with Elfrid Payton Elite on the AAU circuit and Green had his best performance this past Saturday against the St. Louis Eagles (MO).
He was the team’s second-leading scorer with 16 points behind 2017 Brandon Rachal’s 18 and was EPE’s leading rebounder in the game with 10. Green went an efficient 7-of-13 from the field and also had two blocks in the game. Over EPE’s last three outings, he posted averages of 9.7 points on 57.9 percent shooting while pulling in 6.3 rebounds. For Scotlandville this past season, Green averaged 11.4 points with 9.0 rebounds and 2.3 blocks in 34 games including a 22-point, 21-rebound effort in the quarterfinals against St. Augustine.
At 6-foot-5, 175 pounds, Green has a good frame and both EPE and Scotlandville needed his presence in the post. While he’s shown he can be an efficient player in the paint Green has also worked to extend his game to the perimeter. He’s becoming a better ball handler and has continuously improved his jump shot which now extends beyond the 3-point line on occasion.
Green pulled in an offer from Southeastern in the fall and said ULL is showing interest as of late. He could also be looking to explore his options at a prep school where he can further develop his perimeter game. Here’s a look at Green this past season with Scotlandville and last summer with Elfrid Payton Elite:
