17U Elite
Roster:
Jal Bijiek, 6’7 SF, Des Moines North
Drew Maschoff, 6’3 G, Ankeny
Charley Crowley, 6’7 PF, Valley
Tray Buchanan, 6′ G, United Township (IL)
Ben Juhl, 6′ G, DM Christian
Quinton Curry, 6’6 F, Valley
Douglas Wilson, 6’6 PF, Hoover
Stephen Glenn, 6′ G, GrandView Christian
Lim Chuol, 6’3 G/F, Chariton
Grant DeMeulenaere, 5’8 PG, Grand View Christian
Notes: This could very well be the 17U squad in the state of Iowa. Of course the Iowa Barnstormers are always in the mix, and we’d love to see the two teams square-off, but the programs’ differing schedules will prohibit that match-up. Four of the state’s top-10 2017s loom on this team (Bijiek, Curry, Maschoff, Wilson), and perhaps the class’ biggest stick-riser too, with Chariton’s Lim Chuol. Ben Juhl was a very nice addition at guard, he had a monster junior season with Des Moines Christian. And Tray Buchanaan adds some flavor from Illinois. This is a supremely athletic bunch with above-the-rim capability. And not only is it greatly talented, but it will be immensely fun to watch.

April 1-3: Prep Hoops Route 66 Kickoff — Tulsa, OK

16U Elite
Roster:
Camden Vander Zwaag, 6’3 SG, Johnston
Nathan Johnson, 6’5 F, Waukee
Isaac Prewitt, 6’2 G, DM Christian
Nabil Musa, 5’10 PG, DM Roosevelt
Carter Boothe, 5’11 PG, Central Decatur
Tyreke Locure, 5’9 PG, DM North
James Betz, 6’6 PF, Garner Hayfield/Ventura
Blake Brinkmeyer, 6’7 F Valley
Scotty Leonard, 6’6 C, Atlantic
Wilyum Omer, 6’5 F, United Township (IL)
Notes: Tyreke Locure is quickly becoming one of the state’s elite point guards, and James Betz is establishing himself as one of Iowa’s most dynamic young big-men — both are playing up one grade with the 16U squad this summer. Camden Vander Zwaag was a big-time producer for Johnston as a sophomore last season – he’s a sharpshooter with good size. And Waukee’s Nathan Johnson is an athletic stretch-four with nice hops. This team has a little bit of everything, and has some serious potential to breakout and become truly elite.

15U Elite
Roster:
Gatdoar Bijiek, Des Moines North
Casey Kleemeier, Winterset
Lino Malual- Des Moines North
Marcus Edwards, Hoover
Reece Pitz, Ankeny
Trey Hardy, Waukee
Mamoud Bayou, Des Moines North
Peter Ngo, Des Moines North
Aguek Deng, Valley
Quin Vesey, Indianola
Notes: This group of youngsters is largely unproven, but if the trajectory of the Kingdom Hoops program is any indicator they will all be ready for some serious rankings consideration by summer’s end. Lino Malual and Marcus Edwards seem to be the anchors of the group — each of them played into the rotations at 4A powers Des Moines North and Hoover, respectively. Casey Kleemeier is the only small school representative on the squad, he was a major contributor with the Huskies’ varsity as a freshman, going for 6.3 points and 2.4 assists per game. We’ll get a first glimpse at many of these youngsters this weekend at the Midwest Spring Tune Up.
