Continue ReadingDubuque Senior’s 6-foot-4 forward forward Noah Carter is coming off a freshman season that saw him make a run with his team to the state tournament, and become one of the Iowa’s most intriguing 2019s in the process.
He debuted at No. 10 in our inaugural 2019 rankings last month, and is hoping that with all his recent successes, college coaches will start to recruit him this summer.
“I’m looking to just get better and I’m looking forward to playing against better competition. I’m also hoping to get some college looks at a younger age,” said Carter, who will again play with the Iowa Barnstormers this offseason.
“I haven’t gotten any letters or talked to any coaches, but I’m hoping that starts shortly. That’s really what AAU is all about, I just got to get my name out there and keep on working and show these coaches what I can do.”
Carter is currently a developed post player for the Rams, but he’s going to continue to develop his perimeter skills over the next year. His brother Josh was a 6-foot-5 wing for Dubuque, Wahlert.
“Looking at my game I like to think I have a pretty good all-around game. I feel I have a good jump-shot, and a good mid-range. I feel I’m pretty good with my back to the basket. Everything needs work though, I just got to keep improving,” said Carter.
“I feel like I need to work on my ball-handling, driving to the hole that will really help me. Ball-handling and working on foot-work down in the post.”
“I need to take my game out to the wing, I may be 6’4 all of my life and I’ll need to get that guard aspect of my game. And even if I do grow and improve that’s still something that I’ll need to be a good player.”
Whatever the future holds, Carter will always be able to reflect on a what was a special freshman season for him; he averaged 9.4 points and 4.9 rebounds.
“I was just hoping to help the team as much as I could,” said Carter. “Whether I was coming off the bench at the beginning of the year, or starting towards the end, I just wanted to help the team.”
