“My senior season didn’t go quite as planned as I know we would have loved to make it to state and see what we could prove, but very proud of how it went,” senior Josh Kirk said.
“Looking back I know we accomplished a lot this season and our careers here at TMB. I was extremely proud that we set the record for most wins in a season at TMB and also extremely proud of winning back to back conference championships.”
The Panthers beat teams with a scoring trip of Spencer Smith, Derek Larson, and of course Josh Kirk who was one of the best scorers in southern Minnesota this season.
“I’ll most remember how much fun we had this season,” Kirk explained. “There wasn’t many times during the season where we weren’t enjoying playing basketball together.
“Our senior group is a team that played so well together and didn’t care who scored. We loved to win and competed hard until the final whistle. I’ll always remember how much fun we had this year and how we became such good of friends.”
Kirk’s game has taken continued steps over the years cultivating in a fantastic career.
“I feel as I got older and the more experience I had on varsity I improved greatly on understanding the game,” Josh explained. “I improved a lot on the little things of basketball, like how to get great position and how set people up a lot better than my freshman year.
“I also improved a lot more on my efficiency to score, whether it was learning to be more consistent from three point range or learning to find easier ways to score with moves inside.
“The big thing I need to improve on for the next level is I need to adjust to the quickness of the game. Everyone is going to be quicker and taller, so I need to learn fast what it takes to get around them and how to finish over bigger defenders inside.”
Kirk has decided where he wants to go to school and he has a chance to be really good for the university in a couple sports.
“I decided on the college about a month ago and I’m attending Gustavus University next fall and will be playing basketball and football,” Kirk said.
