Continue ReadingAgua Fria High School surprised many this year as they earned the number two seed in a very talented Division-II. They were led by a consistent effort by multiple players; however, in the state tournament none of the players were bigger than their 5’10” point guard Jordan McCants who was monumental in the team’s run to the state title game.
McCants is definitely more comfortable driving to the left side; with that said, he is capable of taking it to the cup with both hands. His shiftiness, mix of strength and speed, as well as his ability to finish at the rim made him a very difficult player to guard this past season. In addition, he is an above average shooter who has a consistent stroke from the foul line.
Currently, he does not have any scholarship offers, but he has been in communication with “Glendale Community College and [he’s] talked to Arizona Western.”
As far as what he is looking for in a school, he responded, “I want something similar to the program I’m in now. [A place] where I can really display my skills and run up and down.”
McCants has the ability to play at the next level as he has demonstrated a toughness, athleticism, and skill set that would serve him well a low Division-II/NAIA Division school.
One of the biggest knocks on him has been his ability to shoot it from deep, but he did a great job this season of proving that he is a capable shooter, as he shot it at 40%. However, he prefers to drive and get to the rim.
McCants is currently an unsigned senior, but that shouldn’t last for much longer.
