The 6-foot shooting guard averaged 10.4 points, 3.9 rebounds and 3.3 assists this past season. And though his recruitment is just in its infancy, he’s looking forward to seeing it spike while playing with a group of older guys on Tim Schurings’s Iowa Prep 17U squad this summer.
“Last year the University of Jamestown in North Dakota sent me a letter, and I’ve talked a little bit the the Grand View coach, I talked to their coach after one of our AAU games last year. He just said he liked watching me play and he’d like to keep watching me play,” said Magnani.
“I’m really hoping I can play really well and start gaining some attention from other schools. I’m looking forward to it all this summer.”
Magnani went on to define his style of play to PHI, and he mentioned what areas he’d like to improve this spring and summer while playing with Iowa Prep.
“I have a quick first step that I like to use and I’m a pretty good set shooter. At the end of the year I struggled shooting 3s, but I’m usually pretty steady. And then I’m solid from the free-throw line,” said Magnani.
“This summer I’ll be working on finishing against bigger bodies down low, and using different moves to get to the basket and score.”
