Continue ReadingJamil Jackson is part of a 24-5 Minneapolis North team that has ran through teams in every class, and they’ve only lost to Class AAAA teams from schools that are many times larger than the North enrollment.
Jamil is also part of a North senior class (him, Tyler Johnson, Pat Dembley) that leads one of the most exciting shows in the state. Sharp crossovers, wild fast breaks and plenty of dunks are always seen at North games. When observers see the 6-foot-6 Jackson dunking, shooting, blocking shots… a common question is, what does he have going with his recruitment? After all, he’s been a top-20 NHR prospect in his class for years.
“I decided to play another year of AAU this spring because I felt as if my recruitment wasn’t where it should’ve been because of last summer,” Jackson told NHR. “The goal is to just find a school and program that feels comfortable and fits my needs in order for me to further develop my game. I am still open to and considering all options no matter what level.”
Jackson went on to clarify that he is considering four-year and two-year colleges, but not prep school. That’s good news for programs looking to add an athletic, big wing. He’ll be playing with Grassroots this spring, and NHR has heard from the organization that they’re already getting interest from Coastal Carolina, UW-Milwaukee, SIU-Edwardsville and Illinois-Chicago about Jamil. Many 2016 prospects are considering taking an extra spring of club ball, especially after seeing seniors Jeremy Johnson (UW-Milwaukee) and Joe Rosga (Denver) pick up multiple D1 offers after just one weekend last year.
North will play CHOF tonight at 8 pm to continue section play. Jackson has rising confidence in his team.
“I am feeling really good about playoffs right now,” he said. “The team as a whole has one goal, and every player understands that we can only get it done by playing together. We have been doing a much better job sharing the ball.”
