Solon player evaluations
SG Streeter McIlravy (6’1″, 2016) — The catalyst behind the Solon upset, McIlravy was fantastic throughout the contest, finishing with 22 points. He showed the ability to score from all three levels, displaying a nice use of both ball screens and off-ball screens to get himself open looks. He also showed the ability to make tough shots. He’s got a smooth perimeter stroke, can shoot off bounce the catch and the bounce and is a solid athlete with a nose for the ball.
F Jacob Coons (6’4″, 2017) — An Iowa football commit, Coons is a big, strong, physical player with the ability to score at the rim as well as stretch the floor from the arc. He’s a force on the defensive glass with his physicality and strength.
GF Brevin Hill (6’2″, 2016) — Showed the ability to make plays for his teammates as well as score a bit on his own. Keeps the ball moving on the offensive end, rebounds at a solid level from his wing spot and is a good athlete. Good length and he moves well laterally.
PG Ben Krutzfeldt (6’0″, 2018) — Sophomore point guard does a nice job controlling tempo for the Spartans and is a solid ball handler. Capable of making plays for his teammates, moves well on the defensive end and has quick hands. Active on both ends of the floor.
Mount Vernon player evaluations
PG Tommy Hook (6’1″, 2016) — Hook ended his high school career with a typical Tommy Hook game. He was solid all-around, scoring from all three levels, facilitating and rebounding well. Nothing he does blows you away, but he’s solid at everything. He’s a good perimeter shooter with his feet set, hits teammates in the pocket with his passes and doesn’t turn it over.
SG Austin Ash (6’1″, 2017) — Ash took the game over down the stretch for the Mustangs, displaying his ridiculous range, the ability to get into the paint and score creatively and facilitate for his teammates. He still needs to add a significant amount of weight/strength but he moves well off the ball, uses screens to free himself and create space and has a quick release with unlimited range.
SF Connor Herrmann (6’4″, 2016) — Herrmann was quiet in his final high school game, but was very good on the glass, pulling down eight rebounds. A well-built forward who will be playing college football, he’s a good athlete with the ability to post up smaller defenders or take bigger defenders out to the perimeter.
