GILBERT – Gilbert jumped on CMB early and never looked back, claiming a 71-46 victory Friday night to on senior night.
Adam Baker had a huge night for the Tigers as he poured in 24 points, scoring at seemingly every level for Gilbert and helping kick-start the fast break that was so valuable for the Tigers on the night.
The Raiders had trouble solving the Tigers’ trapping defense all night, but did get 10 points from Brady Stover and eight from freshman Will Clapper.
Gilbert finished the first half on a 7-0 run to go into halftime up 16, a lead they would never come close to losing.

CMB Player Evals
2019 Will Clapper, 6’3 F
CMB had its most success offensively when they were running things through Clapper in the post. He doesn’t have a lot of height for a post player, but does have a broad frame that’s plenty strong – plus he’s still just a freshman. He doesn’t yet posses an advanced post game, but he is effective. He’s a heady player, too, who made good decisions under pressure.
2017 Hunter McWhirter, 6′ PG
McWhirter doesn’t look much like a guard with a thick frame, but he plays like one well. He’s quicker than he looks and is legitimately fast in a straight line, chasing down Adam Baker from behind to stop a fast break opportunity. He initiated offense well.
2016 Brady Stover, 6’1 G
Stover is a clever offensive player who was able to get his shot off from different angles and under duress, even making a bank shot as he fell to the ground in the mid-range at one point. He was able to get his shot off under tough circumstances.
Gilbert Player Evals
2016 Adam Baker, 6′ G
It was a senior night that Baker made his own, finishing with 10 made baskets and 24 points. He scored Gilbert’s first eight points of the night, including hitting a pair of 3-pointers from the corner to really jump-start the evening. He scored both inside and out, with the ball and without it, and played well in the open court.
2016 Zachary Becker, 5’5 G
Becker may be short, but he’s plenty strong and he uses that muscle to zip passes into tight spots. He exhibited great vision, finding guys inside after penetrating into the defense, really exploiting gaps in CMB’s defense.
2019 Will Turner, 5’8 G
Turner doesn’t have any size right now, but he was able to be effective without it against the Raiders. His go-to move was to penetrate into the middle of the paint and release a crazy looking floater that got high over potential shot blockers and through the rim. He was 3 of 3 on the shot on the evening, having clearly perfected the move.
2016 Xavier Wilson, 6′ G
The off-guard has a ton of speed that he uses to create for himself and others. On a number of occasions he was able to beat the defense and finish at the rim or dish to a teammate. His speed was also an asset in the open court as he was effective in transition. He’s also got a nice release on his jump shot, making one 3-pointer.
