He’s a threat from catch-and-shoot and has enough size to cut to the hoop and do damage. The Trojans handled Eden Prairie easily, and now they’re preparing for tonight’s first-round section game against Minneapolis Washburn.
“We feel great going into sections,” Sowada said. “It’s what we have been waiting for since our loss to Champlin last year. We always say trust in the pass, because we have so many guys who can score and we can give up good shots for great ones.”
The Trojans are adept at passing because they truly have so many threats. Sowada is one of several wings who can make outside shots after a drive-and-kick from Moorhead State-signed Johnny Beeninga or who can feed the ball inside to Sioux Falls-signed Austin Slater.
“I’m looking at Carleton, St. John’s, St. Thomas, University of Washington and U Penn,” Sowada said. “I was talking to the old coach who got fired last year (at Penn), but I still really like the school.”
Both St. Thomas and Carleton had coaches at the Wayzata/Eden Prairie game.
