The Kingdom Hoops product jolted upwards in our latest rankings, from unranked to 72nd, and is continuing to trend up.
It’s his efficient and stellar play with the Dragons, as well as his Division I and Division II interest that have put the tall and rangy stretch-four on the map.
“I’ve talked to North Dakota, South Dakota, Wayne State, Southwest Minnesota State, Central Missouri, Augustana, and some other D3 schools,” said Jones.
“Mainly phone calls and text messages, but there’s some letters too, just a mix of all. The Southwest Minnesota State coach texts me almost everyday, and Central Missouri contacts me a lot too.”
Though his entire 17U season will be the most critical time for his recruitment, Jones says he’s mostly focused on improving his game and being ready for the July live periods.
“I’m just trying to get a lot better for this July, so I can maybe get some better looks, or at least a lot more interest – I’m just trying to have the best summer I can,” said Jones.
“My 3-point shot has developed a lot, even though I don’t really use it very often for high school ball. And I’ve really developed my post game this season.”
He says — pending on what level of college hoops he plays — he could see himself playing on the wing at the next level.
“I feel like if I play at a higher level that I could be a tall wing,” said Jones.
“I’m really comfortable on the wing, but we don’t have a lot of bigs on our team and I’m effective in the post, so they use me down there more.”
