The game already had been moved back twice thanks to weather and other reasons, but Odero made sure it belonged to St. John’s Catholic Prep. He nailed a late three-pointer that gave his team to an 83-82 victory over Annapolis Area Christian School.
The game, played at the neutral site of Archbishop Spalding, featured a 40-point performance by Odero, according to the Capital Gazette. His biggest points came at the end, when Odero drilled a three-pointer with four seconds remaining, a basket that put the Vikings by one.
Justin Williams led AACS with 28 points but the Gazette reported he barely missed on a lay-up in the final seconds that would have given his team the lead and a win.
But this night belonged to Odero, who the paper reported scored 24 of his 40 points in the second half to really spark the Vikings.
St. John’s fell twice to AACS during the regular season but this game wound up with a different ending. The Vikings improved to 19-9 after the win with AACS falling to 21-5. This was the team’s second straight loss in the title game.
