These rankings will expand and change dramatically over the next three years – but right now, these 50 2019s have been selected as the state’s best.

The Top 5
Patrick McCaffery
Yet another Iowa City West player nabs a top 5 spot in the class rankings, that’s five now. The others; Patrick’s brother Connor McCaffery, also Wali Parks, Tanner Lohaus, and Devontae Lane – pretty incredible. Patrick is a very tall wing, checking in at 6-foot-7. And on the state’s most talented team, he’s been logging critical minutes — he averaged 5.2 points, 2.6 rebounds, and led the team with 24 blocks.
Owen Coburn
The tallest guy in the class, Coburn is a 6-foot-10 center for H-M-S, and his high-ranking is a direct benefit of his big-time summer in 2015. He was great during his freshman season with the Hawks — averaging 11 points, 3.0 blocks, and 7.0 rebounds per game — but it was his prowess last summer while traveling to camps around the country that generated his early mail from high-major Division I programs.
Aidan Vanderloo
The 6-foot-1 guard is the first player off the bench for one of 4A’s best teams, and he produces majorly with the minutes he gets. His numbers are stellar; 8.6 points per game on 56 percent shooting (47 3FG%), 2.4 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and one steal per game. He’ll become a megastar next season with Sioux City East, and will spend his summer with the Martin Brothers trying to capitalize on his high-major D1 interest from last summer.
Tyreke Locure
The dazzling Des Moines North phenom led all of 4A in steals and assists — and no other player was close in either category. His size is a bit of a concern right now — he’s 5-foot-9 — but his skill, and savvy are both off the charts. Stay tuned with Locure, he could develop into a high-major talent for the Polar Bears. But for now, it’s too early to tell.
Derek Krogmann
A Barnstormer product, Krogmann beat out some other top notch competition due to his brilliance this season with West Delaware. The 6-foot-6 power forward averaged 11.1 points on 61 percent shooting for the Hawks, and nearly averaged a double-double adding 8.9 rebounds per game. He also led the team in blocks for good measure. He’ll be looking for some D1 interest this summer on the 15U circuit.
