Keep in mind this is not a list based purely on potential at the next level but just what we’ve observed or followed this season.
The NCAA regular basketball signing period is April 13. There is plenty of time for several seniors to make an impact this winter in front of college programs as postseason discussion gets underway later this month.
- Frankie Hofemeyer, Elder: There have been very few players with more impressive stats than the 6-foot guard. He was the MVP of the Fort Lauderdale tournament and the Panthers are 10-0 for the second straight season. Hofmeyer is shooting nearly 50 percent from the field overall and 46 percent from 3-pointers. He averages 18.2 points, 3.3 rebounds, 2.2 steals and 1.7 assists. Plain and simple, he can light it up from the perimeter and a college program would certainly benefit.
- Rashaad Ali-Shakir, Purcell Marian: How fun is it to watch this 6-1 guard shoot from long distance? He made 35 treys through eight games and averaged 18.5 points. He had 19 points including three 3-pointers in a win over Finneytown Dec. 31. He is the Greater Catholic League Co-Ed division all-time 3-point leader. Purcell Marian is 9-1.
- DeAnthony McCallum, Anderson: The 6-3 combo guard leads the Eastern Cincinnati Conference at 20.7 points and 2.3 steals per game. He’s had two games of 30 points this season and scored 20 against Aiken Dec. 30. Anderson (7-3) has four road games to start January before returning home to play Milford Jan. 15.
- Kameron Moore, Purcell Marian: This 6-foot-7 power forward can manhandle opponents in the paint if given the opportunity. He proved his mettle against Elder in December with a game-high 17 points and six rebounds. He averages 13.1 points and 7.1 rebounds. He will be a key player for the Cavaliers down the stretch. Multiple schools have shown interest including Ball State.
- Elijah Fulton, Roger Bacon: The 6-4 forward averages 19.1 points and four rebounds and has made 58 percent of his 3-pointers. Roger Bacon (6-4) returns to action Tuesday at St. Xavier for the first of four road games. Watch for the Jan. 17 game against Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary in Kettering as a true test.
- Ryan Robinson, Hamilton: The 5-11 guard leads the GMC with a 17.4 points per game scoring average. He’s scored 20 or more points three times this season.
- Jordan Gaines, Purcell Marian: The 6-4 guard/forward handles the ball well and can glide to the lane on the offensive end. He averages 11 points, three rebounds, 3.3 and 2.3 steals on a team that is stacked with talent. Eastern Illinois has shown interest.
- Bryce Butler, Clark Montessori: This 6-1 guard set a school single-game scoring record with 37 points against Reading Dec. 26. He averages 24.1 points, 4.5 rebounds and 1.6 assists. Ohio Northern recently watched one of his games.
- Kobe Brown, Northwest: The 6-1 guard averages 16.8 points, 3.7 rebounds and 1.2 assists for the Knights. He had 22 points and six rebounds against Roger Bacon and 25 points and three steals against Badin.
- Nick Ernst, Clermont Northeastern: The senior guard had 41 points, five rebounds, four steals and three assists in a 65-57 win over Georgetown in December. He averages 19.4 points.
