He suited up along side his older brother Katwan (now playing at the University of Findlay) as both were key players on their way to winning the State Championship in Columbus. Now with the departure of Katwan and a few others to graduation, the load has been firmly placed on Kameron’s shoulders for this his senior season; he has surely not disappointed.
We took a few minutes to talk to him about winning a state championship, his recruiting, and what he is looking for in a program at the next level.
How valuable was the experience to play at and win a state title last season, what has that meant to you?
“It was the best experience a high school player could ever dream of, so many people showed up to watch you play and it wasn’t even just people from your community, it was people from all over Ohio! It meant a lot honestly, I mean, coming from such a small town and (maybe) not having the size in some areas, but the heart and desire to win was unbelievable! We all had to step up and do everything in our power to win. It also brought the whole team closer together and we all loved playing together, that’s what I liked most about our team. I loved playing with Katwan, because we made each other better in so many different ways.”
What schools have you heard from lately, any visits taken or scheduled?
“I’ve heard from Bluffton University, Defiance College, Heidelberg University, Capital University, Urbana University, Trine University, and Davis & Elkins College. I have visited Heidelberg University, Urbana University, and Davis & Elkins College thus far.”
What things are you looking for in a program at the next level?
“The things that I am looking for in a program at the next level are good leadership, guys who like to have fun, where everyone feels like a family, and a place where the coaches push everyone to get better.”
Singleton certainly is one of the best available players in Northwest Ohio, and at 6’4″ he is one of the better inside-out prospects in the state. His long list of interest speaks for itself, and is most certainly destined to grow in the coming months.
