The Cougars had a comfortable lead late in the game before Gaithersburg’s traps began forcing miscues. The Post reported that Nendah Tarke (14 points) and Alex Rojas sparked a 12-2 run that cut the Quince Orchard lead to one in the final 90 seconds.
But the Cougars were able to hold on, thanks to a crucial basket from Daniel Dorsey (11 points) in the last minute.
The victory improved Quince Orchard to 9-1 overall (1-0 in Montgomery 4A-3A West action) while Gaithersburg fell to 6-3 overall and 0-1 in league play.
In other Montgomery County news, the Post reported about Shaq Diboti-Lobe and the impact he’s having at Whitman in his second year with the team since transferring from Churchill.
He had a great season last year and this season’s seen a good start. The Post reported that he’s averaging 20.4 points, 4.4 rebounds and been a force all over the court.
Diboti-Lobe also is looking at the future as a senior. He’s starting to find more interest from schools at different levels. He’s a player to watch this season.
