- Elder 6-foot senior shooting guard Frankie Hofmeyer scored 25 points including 4 of 7 from 3-pointers as Elder defeated Sidwell Friends (Washington, D.C.) 58-46 in the Fort Lauderdale Beach Holiday Classic. Elder advanced to the final at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. Hofmeyer, one of the Cincinnati-area’s top uncommitted players in the 2016 class, had four rebounds for the Panthers (9-0).
- Mason 2017 6-4 forward Matt King recorded his first double-double of the season Tuesday night when he tied a season-high 16 points to go along with 12 rebounds in the Comets’ 59-40 win over visiting Lebanon. King can play the one through the five and is a player to watch in the 2017 class. Mason (8-1) has won eight consecutive games.
- Oak Hills 2018 shooting guard Nick Deifel had 18 points and five assists in the Highlanders’ 56-40 win over host Winton Woods. Deifel, who is 6 feet 2, scored his second-highest amount this season. He had 29 points in the season opener at Western Hills Nov. 27. Deifel shot 50 percent from the field Tuesday night, including 3 of 4 from 3-pointers.
- La Salle 2017 shooting guard CJ Fleming (Bellarmine commit) had 18 points as the Lancers defeated Blanche Ely 48-35 in the Kingdom of the Sun tournament in Ocala, Fla. La Salle (6-0) plays in the tournament final against Lake Highland Prep (Orlando) at 9 p.m. Wednesday.
- Talawanda senior 6-2 guard Jacob Hiler had 27 points, seven rebounds, four steals and three assists in the Braves’ 58-38 win at Preble Shawnee. He was 11 of 21 from the field including 3 of 7 from 3-pointers. He tied for the second-most amount of points he scored this season.
