Zach McIntire (6’6 SF / Delaware Hayes / 2016): Long. slender wing forward that has been a stud in the first two games of the season, pouring in 43 points and 18 rebounds in tough games against Buckeye Valley and Pickerington North. McIntire is a skilled and lengthy forward that can score on all three levels, while being a solid rebounder that can establish position. Receiving interest from several D2s and low D1s, McIntire is one of the Columbus area’s top uncommitted prospects.
Will Maynus (6’6 SF / Westerville Central / 2016): Long athletic wing that went for 30 points in a win at Groveport on Tuesday. Maynus has always had great upside and appears to be fulfilling that finally as a senior. While consistency has been an issue for Maynus over the last two years, he appears to be solving that one game into his senior season. Look for Maynus to end up at the high D2 level, if not low D1 at a high-academic school.
DeAnthony Griffin (6’0 PG / Columbus Linden-McKinley / 2016): The 6-foot shooting guard opened up his senior season on a huge high note, going for 35 points, 13 assists and 10 rebounds according to 270 Hoops. Griffin is a talented shooter that can really get it going offensively, while also developing as a true point guard. As a good fit at the D3/NAIA level, look for Griffin to continue to pour in big numbers.
Kyle Matoszkia (6’5 PF / Johnstown / 2017): The 6-foot-5 Matoszkia had an absolutely brilliant game in a huge win over Columbus South on Wednesday. The junior post scored a game-high 24 points, in addition to eight rebounds and five crucial blocks. The missing element that johnstown needed last season to win a district title, Matoszkia is an active forward that affects the game on both ends of the floor as a strong low post scorer and tough defender.
Tavon Brown (6’7 SF / St. Charles / 2017): The long and high-upside wing forward might just be St. Charles’ top prospect, even on a roster with 6-foot-10 center Nick Muszynski. Growing 5-6 inches in the last year, Brown is a player that is just in the early stages of growing into his frame, and with the ball skills of a guard, we really love his upside going forward. A high-IQ piece off the bench that makes winning plays, Brown is a player that we think has a chance to be really good.
