- Darius Bazley, Finneytown: The 6-foot-7 2018 point guard is the talk of recruiting circles around Cincinnati. He already has an offer from Toledo and several more will certainly be on their way. His stats line is incredible: He averages 21.2 points, 13.2 rebounds, 5.3 assists, 3.5 blocks and 1.5 steals.
- Elder (7-0) – The Panthers defeated Nova (Davie, Fla.) 52-28 in the opening round of the Fort Lauderdale Beach Holiday Classic on Monday night. The Panthers still have a ways to go before matching last season’s start of 16-0 but with senior guards Peyton Ramsey (Indiana football commit) and Frankie Hofmeyer along with senior forward Ryan Custer (Wright State signee), Elder is well on its way to a memorable winter.
- La Salle (5-0) – The Lancers won their opener at the Kingdom of the Sun Tournament Monday. Junior guard CJ Fleming (Bellarmine commit) continues to impress.
- Rashaad Ali-Shakir, Purcell Marian: The 6-1 senior shooting guard continues an excellent season for the Cavaliers (7-1). He had 28 points, including a season-tying eight 3-pointers in a 69-44 win over McNicholas Dec. 18. He has 35 3-pointers this season.
- Mason (7-1) – The Comets continue their rise with multiple dominating performances in the Greater Miami Conference. Mason is averaging a GMC-Best 63 points and has won seven consecutive games. Yet, none of the GMC’s top five scoring average leaders are from Mason. The Comets are the true essence of team and have exhibited great balance. Junior 6-foot guard Eddie Puisis averages 12.8 points and has shot 91 percent from the free-throw line and 40 percent from the 3-point line.
- Bryce Butler, Clark Montessori (pictured above): The 6-1 senior guard averages 24.7 points, 4.4 rebounds, 4.1 steals and 1.6 assists. He had a season-high 37 points in an 82-47 win over Reading Dec. 26. His coach called it a big-time performance. Watch for him to continue to rise among recruiting observers. Ohio Northern University has shown good interest.
- Indian Hill (6-1) – The Braves have won six consecutive games since a season-opening loss at Anderson Nov. 28. Sophomore 6-2 guard Colin Shaw averages 17.3 points, 4.4 rebounds and 2.1 assists.
