Nagel, the Hawks biggest interior presence, was sorely missed in this game, as Mount Vernon routinely got buckets at the rim, using a patient and efficient offensive attack to slowly build a lead that West Delaware just didn’t have the firepower to overcome.
Mount Vernon (3-3) had a balanced attack, with five players scoring at least eight points, led by Tommy Hook, who had 15. Connor Herrmann added 12 and Marquis Dew had 11 off the bench.
West Delaware (4-2) was led by Kyle Wright with 19 points. Derek Krogmann added 13 points and nine rebounds.
