POTW: Jack Jenson
Despite a tough loss last night to Breck, Jack Jenson and his SW Christian team are sitting at 6-1 and are feeling a great deal of chemistry.
“It’s been a great season for us so far,” Jenson told NHR. “We are 6-0 overall and 3-0 in the conference. We’ve been playing very well as a team and have had different people step up each game. We are a high energy team and we know that we play for God first, teammates second and our school third. We know that we lack height, but we pick it up with our determination on defense and we know what we need to do to win!”
SW Christian has about four guys around 6-foot-1 and a “big man” who stands 6-foot-3, making them a small ball team without a choice in the matter. But with a dynamic scorer like Jenson, that may not be as much of a concern.
Jenson first got our attention last week with a career-high 43 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists against No. 2-ranked Central MN Christian on Friday. Looking back at his previous games, he had 25 and 32 points in wins earlier in the week. Yep, he was no doubt a candidate, and his community backed him with enough votes to capture this week’s Player Of The Week Presented by Wisconsin Dells award.
If you’re curious on what Jenson’s options are after his senior year, he said he’s “looking at a number of D3s, a couple NAIAs and a couple D2s currently,” with Bethel and Dordt contacting him the most. “I’m looking for a school where I can excel academically as well as on the court. I’m also looking for a program that has a strong team atmosphere where I can contribute,” he added.
