Ryan Hawkins
Since the inception of prephoopsiowa.com in April of 2014, Atlantic small forward Ryan Hawkins is officially the first player to receive our Player of the Week honor more than once.
We like to mix it up, and include as many players as we can, most players will not even get the opportunity to be a candidate more than once. But what Hawkins does on the court in undeniable – we had to include him in this week’s poll.
And much like last winter when the 6-foot-7 wing dominated his week’s poll, the Atlantic community caught wind of the contest and made it a mission to make their star forward a winner.
Hawkins not only had an outstanding week, but he’s having an unbelievable season for the Trojans.
I joked in the blurb that accompanied the poll that the Wayne State commit would be a top player if fantasy basketball existed at the high school level – it’s true.
This season the do-it-all wing has not only been productive, but efficient, putting together averages of 22.2 points (57 percent FGs), 6 steals, 3 assists, 3 steals, and 14.8 rebounds per game – pretty silly stuff.
Hawkins would tell you that most importantly his Trojans are off to a 5-0 start. What we’ll say, is it’s largely because of the dominance of the versatile wing.
