Here are five games to watch Tuesday night in the Cincinnati area:
Middletown at Lakota East – One of the better matchups in the Greater Miami Conference this week, Lakota East has won three consecutive games since a loss at Mason Dec. 4. Lakota East (4-2, 3-1 GMC) defeated district rival Lakota West 49-32 on Dec. 12. Senior 6-5 guard Ryan Middendorf had 17 points, 10 rebounds and two blocks to lead the Thunderhawks. Junior 6-7 forward Evan Kuhlman had 11 points, 11 rebounds and three blocks. Middletown has lost consecutive games including a 70-55 loss at Oak Hills Dec. 11. Junior guard Cliff Snow averages 14.3 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.3 steals for the Middies (2-2, 2-2 GMC). Senior point guard Kobie Johnson averages 13 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.8 assists. Johnson is one of the top uncommitted players in Southwest Ohio in the 2016 class.
Oak Hills at Sycamore – Oak Hills has won three consecutive games and the Highlanders are playing as well as anyone in Cincinnati. Junior 6-4 guard Luke Rudy averages 15.8 points, 6.8 rebounds and 2.6 assists. He had 46 points last week. The Highlanders also have contributions from 6-5 junior guard Ryan Batte (13.6 ppg., and 8.0 rpg.) along with 6-2 sophomore guard Nick Deifel (13.2 ppg.). Sycamore has lost three consecutive games. Junior 6-9 center Jaden Sayles averages 12.8 points and 4.3 rebounds.
Purcell Marian at Elder – The best game of the night in Cincinnati occurs in Price Hill where two undefeated teams meet at The Pit. Watch for the post game between Purcell Marian senior 6-7 center Kameron Moore and Elder senior 6-6 forward Ryan Custer (Wright State signee). Another interesting matchup will be the backcourt with Elder senior 6-foot guard Frankie Hofmeyer (23 ppg.) and senior guard Peyton Ramsey (Indiana football commit) and Purcell Marian senior 6-1 guard Rashaad Ali-Shakir and senior 6-4 standout Jordan Gaines.
Clinton-Massie at Wilmington – Watch for Wilmington senior shooting guard Jarron Cumberland (UC signee). He had 20 points, seven rebounds, five assists and three steals in a win over East Clinton last week. Clinton-Massie lost to Chillicothe Friday despite sophomore Trey Uetrecht’s 30 points, according to the Wilmington News Journal.
Anderson at Turpin – This district rivalry is always a highly-competitive game. Watch for Anderson senior 6-3 guard DeAnthony McCallum who averaged 25.5 points through four games. Turpin senior guard Brandon Holaday averages 18 points, 2.6 steals, 2.2 rebounds and 2.0 assists. He had 18 points in a 38-36 win at Glen Este Dec. 11.
